Isn't the score of an unrestored silent public domain silent film PD as well, as long as it is not registered as new content? If we cannot have the score.....

Can you guys help me to find an easy way to put music for these silents w/o music? I find it impossible to sit through a silent silent movie. Music is the a significant part of the language of these films and an imperfect score is infinitely better than no score. It seems airless without it

Yes. if the music isn't registered, then I think the film is likely PD with the music. Video-Cellar uploaded a silent with PD music, as I remember. I don't think any of my silents use unregistered music.

I can take or leave music on silent movies. Frankly, half the time the added music just isn't a very good fit. I've read others suggest elsewhere that you play some of your favorite classical music with soundless silent movies, or instead of the music used.

Adding an audio track is simple on my Mac, with QuickTime 7 Pro. Other than that, I can't help you.

I need music as well , especially if made for the particular movie . Some modern scores are not bad at all , some are awful .
I would second billb's recommendation for classical music . It's seems to be the best genre . Or if you know an opera that would fit , I have done that as well . Have fun .
